Philosophy on Spine Care
Growing up in a family with an older parent, from an early age I was exposed to a variety of personalities in the healthcare field. These experiences in my formative years lead me to commitment to an approach of compassionate, knowledgable, and personable care from medical school to this day. I am committed to patients under my care actually seeing me at their clinic appointment. I am committed to making sure you understand your diagnosis and plan before leaving an appointment, using whatever educational aid necessary to ensure you have a best possible understanding of where we are and where we are going as a team along your treatment plan. Lastly, regarding surgical treatment of the spine I will always try to find the least invasive way of treating any diagnosis. I often say that the best surgery is no surgery, and if there is a way to eliminate pain and restore function without making an incision, this is a win. If surgery is the only remaining option, the least invasive techniques are always the goal. This is not just to use buzz words such as minimally invasive or motion preserving, but utilizing my training as a minimally invasive surgeon to shape a mind set of getting the goals of care accomplished while minimizing trauma to the normal adjacent tissues.
